2014 is shaping up to be a pretty exciting year! I’ve got a handful of new projects getting started, and am filling the current online shop with the new plush that I released at live shows the end of last year: 2013 Tooth Fairy Pillows, TMNT Smudges, Technicolor Giraffes, That’ll Do Smudge (the cute piggy smudge), and Narwhal Smudges, Pillows, and Key chains. These should be available in the next week. Above is a close up Frost, one of the new arctic foxes being released soon. In addition to these foxes, be on the lookout for several new variety of pop culture inspired smudges, and a line of child safe cuddly plush figures! I’m also going to start a new series of paintings! There’s a large pile of vintage frames, wood slices, and canvases that are all in line to get cure creatures painted on them. Again, for sneak peeks and mini updates, be sure to follow me on instagram @paisleyfawn.

Welcome to the world Gillian Rose!
As most of you know from reading my blog and following my instagram, my husband and I had been pregnant with our first child. Baby Gilly made her appearance on November 24, 2013 around 6:00 in the evening. She came out pink, screaming, and healthy! 7lbs, 4oz and 19 inches long, about 6 hrs before her actual due date. I was blessed with a very healthy and uncomplicated pregnancy and went through with the un-medicated un-interupted natural birth with midwives that we had wanted so badly. My husband actually delivered her! What an experience! I’d do it all the same again (no pain meds, all natural). Was it hard? Heck yes! It was one of the hardest things I’ve done in my life thus far, but I wouldn’t change a thing. Sometime soon I’ll share my birth story, but perhaps not on this art blog. If anyone is curious shoot me an email, I’m very open to talking about it. The past few weeks we’ve been getting to know this joyful little bundle. We truly did fall in love upon first seeing this little girl. I can’t wait to share all sorts of life experiences with her. Before to long she’ll be old enough to hold a pencil and a pair of sewing scissors, but until then I’m just going to enjoy this tiny little baby.
I took a bit of a hiatus on blogging my art projects the last few months due to being on the verge of popping, but expect to see more regular posts now that baby Gilly has made her appearance and we’ve adjusted to life with a new baby. I’ve got a bunch of new and exciting projects lined up for 2014. It’s going to be a great year!

This year’s Strange Folk Festival in O’Fallon, IL was a complete success! For those of you not familiar with Strange Folk, it is hands down one of the best indie craft/art shows in the Midwest that takes place annually on the last weekend in September. This is my second year participating in this awesome event. Besides getting to spend a long weekend with my fun-loving husband and baby sister (who knits GORGEOUS HATS, by the way!), we got to mingle with a bunch of fantastic art-lovers and musicians. Here are some photos of some of my new plush and some pictures from the event (more photos coming soon! We had a hungry camera that went to town buffet style, but should be able to recover them soon I hope):

This pop-culture inspired beauty is made of several different kinds of fabric, wooden buttons, and pink fuzzy material. Each piece is unique in that the tummy colors and embroidered details are all a little bit different, some of them vintage and re-claimed! Each one has a personality of it’s own, but don’t expect these little critters to take up sheep-herding any time soon. They are incredible stubborn and will most likely just shoot you a ‘PLBBBBBBGH’ mouth-fart noise. They do however get along great with dogs and all sorts of critters when kept up high on their own shelf.
Here are some work-in-progress shots:
Meet Nilley. This cute hand-made giraffe plush just jumped out-of my studio and is roaming central Illinois looking for tasty leaves and new friends. Her brothers and sisters will be available later this week for adoption here: https://www.etsy.com/shop/paisleyfawn?ref=pr_shop_more
Here are some of her preliminary sketches:
We found out recently that Baby Tarr is a girl! So very excited to meet her this coming Thanksgiving time. She’s kicking up a storm and has mastered the ‘Full Body Wave” by now (imagine a kite ribbon blowing in the wind…. it feels kinda like that)!
And here is one of her ultrasound pictures. Hopefully she keeps that cute button nose. We were not expecting a 3D ultrasound, but were very surprised at the appointment when they turned on the viewing option.
It’s been a while since I’ve updated the art blog section of my website, due to lots of shows, projects, and a BIG real life project! I am so happy to announce that the hubby and I have been blessed with little “Baby Tarr” who will be making his/her first appearance this coming November. We are so excited and thankful to share this news. Now that Baby Tarr is being more agreeable, I will be posting lots of new projects, new smudges, and some paintings that have been in the works. Stay Tuned!

More About Brea:
At a wee 4 inches tall, these tiny mammoths live on the wild side. As the pictures show, this little lady recently got a bit to close for comfort when visiting the La Brea Tar Pits. She just peeked over the edge and it was going going gone! Good thing she was able to clamber up outta that sticky mess and make her way to Designer Con! These plush/mixed media figures are the 1st edition of the ‘Brea” Smudges and are limited to a mere 6 pieces. Their tummies are made of a pretty vintage floral fabric, of which every spare scrap was used!
The zombie sickness has finally taken foot in the Smudge Community. These itty bitty hand-stitched blood splattered ‘Return of The Living Smudge” plush figures feature a bright pink oozing brain, vintage button eyes, and enough bloody gore to last you until next Halloween! Series 1 is a run of 18 (10 of which will be available to Designer Con attendees!)
Of course I will have the regular gang with me as well! Tons of classic smudges, bacteria, Stinky Skunk Smudges, and RUSTY RED PANDA SMUDGES!
Meet the newest member of the animal Smudges: Stinky Skunk Smudge! Measuring in at about 6 1/2″ tall, this little bugger is quite a bit taller than the classic smudge! He’ll be stinking up my store in about a week, so be on the look out for him.
