“That’ll Do Smudge, That’ll Do”
*Adorably soft pig Smudge.
Available August 9th, 2013 here: https://www.etsy.com/shop/paisleyfawn?ref=pr_shop_more
This pop-culture inspired beauty is made of several different kinds of fabric, wooden buttons, and pink fuzzy material. Each piece is unique in that the tummy colors and embroidered details are all a little bit different, some of them vintage and re-claimed! Each one has a personality of it’s own, but don’t expect these little critters to take up sheep-herding any time soon. They are incredible stubborn and will most likely just shoot you a ‘PLBBBBBBGH’ mouth-fart noise. They do however get along great with dogs and all sorts of critters when kept up high on their own shelf.
Here are some work-in-progress shots:
Meet Nilley. This cute hand-made giraffe plush just jumped out-of my studio and is roaming central Illinois looking for tasty leaves and new friends. Her brothers and sisters will be available later this week for adoption here: https://www.etsy.com/shop/paisleyfawn?ref=pr_shop_more
Here are some of her preliminary sketches:
We found out recently that Baby Tarr is a girl! So very excited to meet her this coming Thanksgiving time. She’s kicking up a storm and has mastered the ‘Full Body Wave” by now (imagine a kite ribbon blowing in the wind…. it feels kinda like that)!
And here is one of her ultrasound pictures. Hopefully she keeps that cute button nose. We were not expecting a 3D ultrasound, but were very surprised at the appointment when they turned on the viewing option.
It’s been a while since I’ve updated the art blog section of my website, due to lots of shows, projects, and a BIG real life project! I am so happy to announce that the hubby and I have been blessed with little “Baby Tarr” who will be making his/her first appearance this coming November. We are so excited and thankful to share this news. Now that Baby Tarr is being more agreeable, I will be posting lots of new projects, new smudges, and some paintings that have been in the works. Stay Tuned!

More About Brea:
At a wee 4 inches tall, these tiny mammoths live on the wild side. As the pictures show, this little lady recently got a bit to close for comfort when visiting the La Brea Tar Pits. She just peeked over the edge and it was going going gone! Good thing she was able to clamber up outta that sticky mess and make her way to Designer Con! These plush/mixed media figures are the 1st edition of the ‘Brea” Smudges and are limited to a mere 6 pieces. Their tummies are made of a pretty vintage floral fabric, of which every spare scrap was used!
The zombie sickness has finally taken foot in the Smudge Community. These itty bitty hand-stitched blood splattered ‘Return of The Living Smudge” plush figures feature a bright pink oozing brain, vintage button eyes, and enough bloody gore to last you until next Halloween! Series 1 is a run of 18 (10 of which will be available to Designer Con attendees!)
Of course I will have the regular gang with me as well! Tons of classic smudges, bacteria, Stinky Skunk Smudges, and RUSTY RED PANDA SMUDGES!
Meet the newest member of the animal Smudges: Stinky Skunk Smudge! Measuring in at about 6 1/2″ tall, this little bugger is quite a bit taller than the classic smudge! He’ll be stinking up my store in about a week, so be on the look out for him.
Materials: Felt, Fleece, Buttons, Polyfill
Hide your children hide your wives! Weird mutant fish plushies have invaded the Midwest. I was lucky enough to catch this one before they dispersed into the cornfields. Surprisingly he was very peaceful.
He was originally found grazing in this field of grass before he agreed to come home with us.
Then he insisted on trying to swim in the dog’s kiddie pool, even though there was no water in it. Good thing he has all of those spindly little legs to get around with!
He agreeably sat for one more photo with Hatch before scampering off into the woods. I hope he finds more of his kind to frolic around with! We will miss you mutant fish plushie!
Mutant Fish Plushie is based off of this quick creature sketch I drew in my mini 3′ sketchbook. Final plush is fabricated out of fleece and embroidery thread, and lovingly stuffed with fabric scraps and polyfil. More of his kind will be available in my shop later this year.
This one-of-a-kind shiny Silver Surfer Smudge is a one of made specially for well known actor Doug Jones. He was in town recently for the Chicago Wizard Convention, and since my husband was meeting up with Mr. Jones after the show, we decided to surprise him with this little guy!
Some of Doug’s most well known roles include the Silver Surfer in the Fantastic 4 movie, Fauno in Guillermo del Toro’s Pan’s Labrynth, and Abe Sapien in the Hell Boy movies. I had a great time working on this Smudge, and am happy to say that Doug will give him a great home!
Meet Mr. Lincoln Smudge! As the name implies, this long nosed big hatted fellow shares many similarities with America’s 16th President. He doe not however, hunt vampires. If a scary monster is afoot, this little guy goes into hiding!
Pretty Gilded Menswear Smudge. These glas, like their male counterparts, are created using menswear styled fabric. Their pretty pearly eyes are from my vintage antique button collection. No two are exactly alike.
Mohawk Rocker Smudge loves to P.A.R.T.Y! Don’t let this guy’s cute innocent demeanor fool you, Mohawk Rocker Smudge is hip on the music scene, and stays up late every night partying like it’s 1999.
